As we say before, the Foundation Abreu Callado is a “private institution of social solidarity”, created by Cosme de Campos Callado in 1948. And by will determination, the youth education and the elderly support are its native purposes that are maintained with the dignity that its meritorious legacy demands and deserves.
But the future open new horizons, born of a paradigm of local differentiator development and ever more supported by new interests and new seductions of leisure in witch XXI century is prodigal : nature, environment, cultural heritage, rurality, cuisine,…
… and the Foundation Abreu Callado, along with its social-educative mission, join this future believing that “today” is a different world and irreversible tomorrow, inside of which intend to be one active contribution to this local development. And “sustained” -- because “developing” is not only doing : it is also assuring that it lasts and became a support of wellbeing and peace of mind of the future generations.
…and meeting the new interests that emerge each day and help to mold the future society , was conceived a space where it is possible to work in group, talk about what appeal us, to collate ideas and gauge opinions, -- and, at the same time, look at the involving nature and rural environment, that has as backdrop the serenity of waters of the Maranhão : is another and different ‘interior sea’, there so close of visitors.
The Forum of Events can receive cultural meetings, meeting of executives, groups of social and professional reflection, expositions and exhibits of regional products, groups that share the pleasure of the Alentejo cuisine, or accomplishments of entities that prefer the rural quietness for their events.
In the Forum of Events we had the concern to create an atmosphere capable of harmonizing nature with work, and serenity with rural space : we are in Benavila, small village of the municipality of Avis, leaned over the water mirror of the Maranhão Dam-- one of the largest and renowned portuguese river fishing.
