The Foundation Abreu Callado owns also black and white merino sheep herds. The “black” constitute a true genetic inheritance which Foundation is very proud of, once they represent since 1932 the flock-mother of the “pure alentejo’ merino black , from which have gone out offspring to another places in Alentejo.
The bovine cattle includes specimens of ‘alentejana’, ‘limousine’ and ‘charolais’ races, and is distributed by two bovine holdings of identical dimension : Benavila (Farm of the Cumeada) and Cabeço de Vide/Alter do Chão (Farm of the Ferrarias and Batigelas).
Both sheep and bovine farms are in slaughter regime.
